Today is World Mental Health Day and we at the CCSD are committed to making mental health and well being a priority for everyone. Attached are some tips for our students on the benefits of good mental health. Also, remember Wed., Oct. 11th is an E-Learning day for our students.
Today the CCSD hosted a Food Pantry planning meeting for 22 stakeholders to explore creating outreach from Inspire Academy (served by our students). We are excited about this opportunity and working to serve those in need. Special thanks to Jack's for preparing breakfast for all.
Today is the LHS SGA sponsored blood drive for Life South. Donations are being taken until 2:30 pm in front of the LHS Library. Thanks Ms. Kay for coordinating this outreach by the SGA. Thanks to CCSD Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Owen for making the 1st donation of the morning.
The DAC is a special advisory committee of students and parents that live in Chambers County who advise the Superintendent and BOE on
desegregation-related issues, such as the proposed consolidation of high
schools, the operation of the K-8 program at Eastside/John P.
Powell STEAM Magnet School, the culture and climate at all schools in the
District, and students equal access to academic and extracurricular opportunities.
Three students and three parents/guardians each from Lafayette and
Valley-area schools, and one parent member selected by the NAACP-LDF. The DAC will be accepting new applications until October 12th. Please use the link below to access and print the application.

The CCSD received a donation & partnership from Carpets for Kids in West Point, GA. Plant Manager John Johnson & Assistant Chris Kirkland were happy to partner with the CCSD. A 12 foot long, 500 square carpet roll that was delivered by Dr. Chambley to W.F. Burns Middle School. Principal Leak plans to use it to replace the ramp surfaces in front of the WFB library. Giving back to the community is key for Carpets for Kids. Dr. Chambley thanks them for their generous support for the CCSD.
The CCSD is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. It is observed annually from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15th. The 30-day period was set by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 and enacted into law. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the cultures, histories and contributions of Hispanics and Latino Americans to America. This year’s theme is “Todos somos, somos uno: We are all, we are one.” The theme was chosen to highlight not only the contributions and achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans in our Nation, but also the influence and impact the culture has had and continues to have in shaping the America of current and future.
El CCSD está celebrando el mes de la Herencia Hispana. Se observa anualmente desde el 15 de Septiembre hasta el 15 de Octubre. El período de 30 días fue establecido por el presidente Ronald Reagan en 1988 y promulgado como ley. El Mes de la Herencia Hispana es un momento para honrar las culturas, historias y contribuciones de los hispanos y latinoamericanos a Estados Unidos. El tema de este año es “Todos somos, somos uno: Todos somos, somos uno”. El tema fue elegido para resaltar no solo las contribuciones y los logros de los hispanos y latinoamericanos en nuestra nación, sino también la influencia y el impacto que la cultura ha tenido y continúa teniendo en la configuración de los Estados Unidos del presente y del futuro.
CCSD Superintendent, Dr. Casey Chambley is thrilled to share that Walmart just donated a $1,000.00 community grant to the Chambers County School District to support professional development for our teachers. Special thanks to Walmart for their contribution to education.
On Sept 18th , the CCSD celebrated Constitution Day which is a Federal government initiative to observe the adoption of the U.S. Constitution dating back to Sept 17, 1787. Superintendent, Dr. Casey Chambley noted that teachers were doing a great job of teaching citizenship.
Reminder to all students and parents that Wednesday, September 20th will be a staff Professional Development Day with no school for students in the CCSD. We will see you back at school on Thursday, September 21st.
Constitution Day is celebrated on September 17th. The CCSD plans to observe Constitution Day on Monday, Sept. 18th. Monday is also an approved district wide spirit day to promote Constitution Day. (Please wear red, white & navy blue uniform approved shirts with blue jeans).

Sheriff Nelson & the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the CCSD on their "Pack the Backpack's to donate school supplies for student's and staff. Boxes of supplies were shared with school principals to disperse as needed. Dr. Chambley was thankful for the outreach.

Earlier today CCSD Assistant Superintendent, David Owen accepted the generous $1,000.00 donation and Silver Sponsorship from Dr. Chris Padgett and the team at Valley Chiropractic. The partnership with the CCSD will help support the upcoming back to school staff breakfast on August 2, 2023. The BOE is thankful for all of the local support to help serve our students and staff. The CCSD is pleased to share that Alabama’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday will be Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23. The state will waive its 4% tax on school-related supplies and clothing. Some cities are also waiving the local taxes too. The tax-free weekend allows for purchases of pencils, calculators, binders, and other essential school supplies without a sales tax. Items include clothing priced at $100 or less per garment, school supplies priced at $50 or less per item, books that cost $30 or less and tablets, laptops, computers and printers that sell for costs of $750 or less.
